Free electricity to India will take the country into darkness
During the election season in India, political parties used to promise to get work done here earlier. Now most of the political parties have started promising free electricity, free bus travel, free mobile-laptop, free ration and free money to get votes of the general public. Free promises are made with great pride at every election stage. Someone promises to give 100 units of free electricity every month. The leader of the other party asks to give 200 units of electricity free of cost. The leader of any third party claims to give 300 units of electricity. An attempt is being made to run a strange trend in the country. No party has any master plan that it will provide free electricity, free bus travel, free mobile-laptop, free ration and free money apart from the free promises which will put a financial burden on the government. What will be done to meet that economic deficit? From where will that money be generated for the freebies that are being given to the public.
Almost all the state governments are going through financial crisis after the Karona period. Many states already have manifold debt. Most of the income of taxes coming from different departments in the state goes towards paying the loan installments. States like Delhi, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan are facing economic crisis in the country. Despite all this, in every election, free promises are made by various political parties to the general public. If we talk about electricity in the country, then Power Minister RK Singh told in the media platform that at present there is a demand of 2.15 lakh MW of electricity. Compared to last year, at that time there was a demand of 25 thousand MW of electricity. In this way, if the demand for electricity in the country continues to increase every year, then the people of the country may have to face serious conditions in the coming times. The Power Minister also said that there are dues of Rs 1.35 lakh crore on the state governments. In this, Rs 75,000 crore is subsidized only. He said that the practice of free electricity can bring darkness in the country and it will be very dangerous for the people of the country.
During the elections in the state of Punjab, free electricity was promised on a large scale. The AAP government was formed in the results of the elections. Recently the promise of free electricity was implemented. However, some families started getting the benefit of free electricity. After implementing the promise of free electricity, the total power subsidy burden on the Punjab government is Rs 13,443 crore. It is being said that in the current financial year it will increase to 15,846 crores.
