Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh was absconding for 36 days. Amritpal was seen at many places in the last one month. Amritpal had also released many of his videos. The Punjab Police had searched for him in several areas bordering Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Nepal. After all Khalistan supporter Amritpal was caught by the police. The Punjab Police and Central agencies had launched a covert operation to nab Amritpal. Due to this campaign, the Punjab Police arrested Amritpal Singh outside the Rodewala Gurdwara on Sunday (April 23). A case has been registered against Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh under the National Security Act (NSA). On March 18, the Punjab Police launched an operation against Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh and his associates. Since then Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh was on the run. After the death of Waris Punjab De chief Deep Sidhu, pro-Khalistan Amritpal Singh became the head of the organisation. After this Amritpal started working on his Khalistani agenda. On the other hand, Deep Sidhu’s family said that Amritpal Singh is misleading the Sikh youth of Punjab in the name of Khalistan.

After this, Amritpal Singh took command of the “Waris Punjab De” organization. Amritpal was entrusted with the command of the organization in the village of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. General Singh Bhindranwale is considered responsible for taking terrorism to its peak in Punjab in the 80-90s. Amritpal Singh has been claiming himself to be a follower of Khalistani terrorist General Singh Bhindranwale. On the occasion of the coronation of the head of the organization, Amritpal Singh had also said that Bhindranwale is my inspiration. Amritpal said that I want to be like Bhindranwale. Every youth of Punjab wants to become Bhindranwale. However, I cannot match them. Amritpal said that I am not even equal to the dust of General Singh Bhindranwale’s feet. Due to all this, Amritpal Singh started misleading the Sikhs with provocative speeches in the meetings. Amritpal used to say in meetings that we all are still slaves. We have to fight for freedom. Our water is being looted, our Guru is being insulted. He used to ask the youth present in the gatherings to be ready to lay down their lives for the Sikh religion.

Amritpal is a resident of village Jandupur Khera in Amritsar. Even before 2012, Amritpal’s family had moved to Dubai. There the family started the work of transport. In 2013, Amritpal started looking after the work of transport in Dubai. He has returned to Punjab only a few months back. Later he started dressing like Bhindranwale. A squad of armed people also started living with him. He began to live under the protection of armed men all the time.

In fact, Amritpal started presenting himself in front of the media as Janrail Singh Bhindranwale. Meanwhile, Varinder Singh of Chamkaur Sahib in Rupnagar district lodged a complaint of kidnapping and assault on 30 of his supporters, including Lovepreet Singh and Amritpal. After which the police arrested Lovepreet and another accused. In this case, the police had released one of the accused. But Amritpal warned to protest outside the police station to release his partner Lovepreet. On February 23, Khalistan supporter Amritpal reached the police station along with his supporters along with the sacred form of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. On his behest, the furious crowd present attacked the police station with swords and guns, in which six policemen including police officer SP were injured. During the attack on Ajnala police station itself, Amritpal had threatened Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Amritpal had said that Shah’s condition would also be like that of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi was shot dead by her bodyguards in 1984.

Let us tell you that on March 2, Chief Minister of the state Bhagwant Mann had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed with him the prevailing law and order situation in the state. During this, it was decided that central and state security agencies will work together to deal with all security related issues. Due to all this, 18 companies of CRPF/RAF were deployed in Punjab on the instructions of Union Home Ministry. First of all, the police had laid a trap on March 18 to catch Amritpal Singh and his associates. During this, the Punjab Police arrested many of his associates. But Amritpal managed to escape. Since then the police was continuously searching for him, but he was continuously escaping from the police by changing his disguise. The National Security Act (NSA) has been invoked against him and a non-bailable warrant has been issued. All the companions of Amritsar were being interrogated continuously. It is believed that when the police started pressurizing his wife. Kirandeep Kaur, the fugitive’s wife, was stopped at Amritsar airport three days back on Thursday (April 21). Wife Kirandeep Kaur was sent back after questioning. This would have put more pressure on Amritpal.

The Khalistan supporter was arrested by the police after being taken into custody from the Gurudwara in Moga. Significantly, in the last three days, two videos and one audio clip of Amritpal Singh came in the social media. Amritpal Singh had recorded the video in his mobile before his arrest. In this, he is saying that he will surrender at the place from where he started the institution named Waris Punjab De by adorning his head with a turban. He could have fled the country as well, but he had made a promise with the people. He was absconding after the Ajnala incident. Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh is now in police custody. Many criminal cases including Rasuka have been registered against Amritpal Singh and his associates. It has several criminal cases like promoting enmity between two classes, attempt to murder, assault on police personnel and obstructing government work. Amritpal Singh will be kept in Assam’s Dibrugarh Jail instead of Punjab, for this he was taken to Assam by a special plane. So that no tension situation arises in the state.

Due to all this, it is learned that Punjab Police and Para Military Force have been deployed in Rode village of Moga. Flag march is being taken out in the village. Apart from the SSP of Moga, senior officers of the military force, SP, DSP officers, area SHO as well as heavy police force are present on the spot.
