Cases of Fake Police Officers in The Country are Very Dangerous
For a long time, cases of fake police officers being caught in the states of India are coming to the fore. It has been seen in most of the cases that the arrested accused were impersonating themselves as IPS officers. Uniforms and fake ID cards of IPS officers were also recovered from them. Such accused roam freely in the cities, giving challenges to the government agencies of the country and the states. In the guise of this fake officer, he meets people and keeps getting his work done in government departments. Many fake IPS officers have been duping the common youth by pretending to get jobs in the police department. How surprising that a fake IPS officer guarantees to get a job in the department. Such fake officers lure common people into their trap with their impressive appearance and way of talking. By claiming to get a job in the police or other government department, hefty amount is cheated. News of fake IPS officers being caught from many areas of the country like UP, Punjab, Delhi, Vihar, Maharashtra, Chandigarh has been coming in the media. In the last years, many fake IPS officers were caught from cities like Haridwar, Kanpur, Etawah, Agra, Rae Bareli, Lucknow in the state of UP. Such fake IPS officers can become a threat to the security of our country anytime. The intelligence agencies and administration of the country’s central and states should be taken seriously in such matters. Despite today’s modern system, the existence of fake officers raises many questions.
In April 2022, the STF team of UP state caught a person named Prateek Mishra, who cheated crores of rupees by pretending to get jobs to the youth by posing as fake IPS, IAS and IB officers. This fake officer has cheated about 250 people of crores. STF team has also recovered fake IPS ID card, UP Police appointment letter, ATS appointment letter and transfer letter of many government departments from the accused. It is worth noting that this fake officer was living in Lucknow for the last 3 years and was cheating the youth on the pretext of getting jobs. Similarly, in the month of April itself, Rae Bareli UP Police arrested a fake IPS officer who had threatened the police. The power of this fake IPS officer was so much that even the real policemen could not understand. Describing himself as an under trainee IPS officer, he used to tell this work to the Thanedars of different police stations. Then after the work from the people whose work was done, he used to collect the desired amount. During the interrogation of Rae Bareli police, it also came to light that for the last several days, the accused used to do extortion work from many people and the Thanedars. The police also recovered from his possession several SIM cards including a pistol and badges to be put on the police uniform. In July 2022, a similar case has come to light in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. In which a person wearing the uniform of the Indian Police Service used to keep abusing people by putting a photo on social media. On getting information about this, the police in Lucknow found that the said fake IPS officer works as a milk supplier in a reputed company. He used to wear the uniform of an IPS officer to show awe to the common people. It had also put DP in police uniform on its social sites like WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The name of the fake IPS officer caught by the police is Rakesh Tripathi. The surprising thing is that the accused was very educated and used to talk in fluent English.
Fake IPS officers have also been caught at different times in the areas of New Delhi. In November 2021, a case of a fake IPS officer arriving at a sensitive government office on Mansingh Road came to light. New Delhi District DCP had confirmed the arrest of the fake IPS officer in the media. According to New Delhi District Police officials, the accused in the fake IPS officer was identified as Pradeep Sharma. The accused was a resident of Salempur in Bulandshahr. According to the information, Pradeep Sharma reached a sensitive government office on Mansingh Road and started harassing the officers posted. When the officers present at Moke got suspicious, he showed his identity card. The officers got more suspicious after seeing the identity card, after that the Tughlaq Road police station was informed. He was taken into custody when police interrogation raised suspicions. Other agencies including the Intelligence Department and Special Cell of Delhi Police had also questioned the fake IPS officer. Last months, a fake IPS officer was also arrested by the police in Begusarai. This fake officer used to cheat people by pretending to be an IPS officer of IB. Along with this, he kept on advocating by calling the circle officer and the station president. The name of the accused fake IPS officer was Alok Ranawat, the police was getting complaints about this continuously for a long time. After investigating the matter, the police arrested the accused. Police also recovered two fake ID cards from the accused. The accused Alok Ranawat is a resident of Maheshkhunt in Khagaria district. On the basis of secret information, the police raided the Singhoul police station, after which he was arrested. At the same time, according to Singhul police station in-charge, the accused used to call himself the SP of IB. The house of an engineer in the area was also illegally occupied by becoming the SP of IB.
An interesting case of a fake IPS officer came to light in February 2018 in Ludhiana, Punjab. In this, the accused who became a fake IPS officer was very clever. He was successful in taking special protection of the police and getting licenses of arms for those he knew. If this matter is taken seriously then it comes to know that if this fake IPS officer was not caught then how big a threat it could have become in future. The accused used to go to the police officers of the city, it was common to visit the police stations. He also used to get people’s family issues settled by pretending to be an IPS officer. He used to pressurize the policemen to follow his orders. The accused kept doing all this for a long time, but one day the police officer got suspicious. Due to all this, when the investigation was done, Rupinder Singh, who became a fake IPS officer, was arrested by the police of Salem Tabri area. Police recovered one officer’s uniform, metal stars, IPS badge, name plate, 32 bore revolver, two sticks and a beacon from the accused. The accused told in the interrogation of the police that after watching South Indian movies, he had bought a fake uniform and other things.
In July 2019, Patiala Police arrested a fake police officer named Amandeep. He used to tell the people he met as police officers. But it got exposed when it went to a private gym. When the gym owner got suspicious about him, he informed the nearest police station.
More recently, in October 2022, a fake DSP police officer has been arrested by the police in Khanna, Ludhiana’s Kasba in Punjab. An accused named Deeppreet used to cheat people by pretending to be a DSP officer of Punjab Police. Lakhs of rupees have been duped from the accused people in the name of getting their children admitted in Punjab Police. The SP officer of Punjab Police told the media that the accused, who became a fake DSP police officer, has been caught by Khanna police by placing a special trap. The police had received several complaints against the accused. Accused Deeppreet had told some people that he would get them recruited to the post of constable in Punjab Police. For this he will charge Rs.3-3 lakh per person. Under the guise of a fake DSP police officer, some young people gave him Rs. It is being told that the police have recovered police uniform, ID card and many other items from the accused Deeppreet. The police have registered a case against the accused in this case on various sections. After the matter came to light, now the Punjab Police has started to find out the big nexus going on in the name of recruitment of various police posts in the state.
