साक्षी महाराज ने की हिजाब के खिलाफ कानून की मांग
भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) के सांसद साक्षी महाराज ने पूरे देश में हिजाब पहनने पर प्रतिबंध लगाने के लिए एक कानून की मांग की। उन्होंने हिजाब विवाद को भड़काने के लिए विपक्ष की भी आलोचना की।
“विपक्ष ने हिजाब के मुद्दे को चुनाव में लाया। उन्होंने कहा मुझे लगता है कि पूरे देश में हिजाब पर प्रतिबंध लगाने के लिए एक कानून बनाया जाना चाहिए।
कर्नाटक उच्च न्यायालय की खंडपीठ ने कहा कि याचिकाकर्ता न केवल हेडस्कार्फ़ पहनने की अनुमति मांग रहे थे, बल्कि एक घोषणा भी चाहते थे कि यह इस्लाम का पालन करने वाले सभी को बाध्य करने के लिए एक धार्मिक स्वीकृति का हिस्सा बन जाए। सरकार ने यह भी दोहराया कि हिजाब इस्लाम की एक आवश्यक धार्मिक प्रथा नहीं है।
कर्नाटक में हिजाब का विरोध इस साल जनवरी में शुरू हुआ जब राज्य के उडुपी जिले के सरकारी गर्ल्स पीयू कॉलेज की कुछ छात्राओं ने आरोप लगाया कि उन्हें कक्षाओं में जाने से रोक दिया गया है। कुछ छात्रों ने दावा किया कि उन्हें हिजाब पहनने के कारण कॉलेज में प्रवेश से वंचित कर दिया गया था।
इस घटना के बाद विजयपुरा स्थित शांतेश्वर एजुकेशन ट्रस्ट में विभिन्न कॉलेजों के छात्र भगवा स्टोल पहनकर पहुंचे. यही स्थिति उडुपी जिले के कई कॉलेजों में भी रही।
प्री-यूनिवर्सिटी शिक्षा बोर्ड ने एक सर्कुलर जारी किया था जिसमें कहा गया था कि छात्र केवल स्कूल प्रशासन द्वारा अनुमोदित वर्दी पहन सकते हैं और कॉलेजों में किसी भी अन्य धार्मिक प्रथाओं की अनुमति नहीं दी जाएगी।
