Firoz Ahmed’s family lived in Chakia Mohalla of Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. He used to manage his family’s expenses by driving a tonga. Firoz Ahmed used to run a tonga to earn his family’s living. Atiq Ahmed was born in this family. Atiq Ahmed was born on 10 August 1962. Atiq Ahmed’s family was also very poor. This Firoz’s son Atiq used to focus more on bullying, less in studies. Ateeq’s 10th class result came and in which Ateeq failed. After failing in this exam, he soon started dreaming of becoming rich and Bahubali. At the age of just 17, Atiq Ahmed was accused of murder. Even though he was only 17 years old. The story of Atiq Ahmed begins in the year 1979 in the criminal world of Uttar Pradesh. After this, he started getting scared everywhere. In the year 1989 itself, Atiq made a vigorous entry into politics. Ateeq contested the election as an independent from the western seat of Allahabad. Atiq Ahmed’s victory was sealed. Atiq Ahmed became MLA for the first time in the year 1989. After that, his interference in the world of crime spread to many districts of Uttar Pradesh. Atiq Ahmed’s dominance started increasing. But he didn’t have a big identity. Now Atiq started thinking to make his identity big. He traced the biggest don of Allahabad i.e. Bahubali. Chand Baba had a big name in the year 1989. Ateeq was sure that his brother would win the seat vacated by him. But Raju Pal contesting from BSP won the election. Raju Pal’s victory on this seat angered Atiq Ahmed. On 25 January 2005, Raju Pal was shot dead in broad daylight. Devi Pal and Sandeep Yadav also died in this massacre. The names of MP Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf directly came to the fore in this murder case. Now no one was able to dare to compete with Atiq Ahmed in the world of crime.

In the year 2012, Atiq Ahmed was in jail. At that time, Atiq applied for bail in the Allahabad High Court to contest the elections. His fear was such that a total of 10 judges of the High Court recused themselves from hearing the case. During that time the 11th judge held a hearing, but gave the decision in favor of Atiq Ahmed. Coming out of jail, Atiq Ahmed contested the election but lost the election. Raju Pal’s wife Pooja Pal won the election. Atiq Ahmed was in jail for the crime of killing Raju Pal. After this, Atiq Ahmed contested the Lok Sabha elections in the year 2014 from Shravasti area on a Samajwadi Party ticket. But had to face defeat. At that time BJP leader Dadan Mishra had won the election. Due to all this, the height of Bahubali Atiq Ahmed kept on falling.
On 25 June 2005, Atiq Ahmed killed MLA Raju Pal to avenge his brother Ashraf’s defeat in the by-election. Umesh Pal was an important eyewitness of this murder case. When the police started investigating the case, Umesh Pal started receiving threats. Umesh Pal had requested the court for security and after that two guards were also given by the UP Police for security. Atiq Ahmed had more than 100 cases registered against him including extortion, kidnapping and murder. He was convicted last month for the first time in the kidnapping of Umesh Pal, a witness in Raju Pal’s murder. Atiq Ahmed was more known for his crime than his politics. On October 1, 2022, Special Judge Kavita Mishra of CBI Court framed charges against Atiq Ahmed and Bhai Ashraf and other accused. On 24 February 2023, Umesh Pal, a witness in the Raju Pal murder case, was attacked and killed.

Atiq Ahmed shrewdly used politics to protect and expand his underworld empire. Atiq got his wife Shaista Parveen included in the BSP. However, he was denied a ticket in the upcoming mayoral elections due to being named for the murder of Umesh Pal. Atiq’s sons also started following his footsteps. Atiq’s eldest son Umar is currently jailed for extorting, assaulting and kidnapping Mohit Jaiswal, a Lucknow-based businessman, in 2018. Umar had surrendered before the CBI in August last year. Atiq’s other son is still in jail. He also has cases of attempt to murder and extortion registered against him. The third son Asad was killed by the police in an encounter last week and Ateeq’s two minor sons are lodged in a juvenile shelter home.
